Can Cifran Oz Be Substituted With Zanocin Oz For Stomach Bug?

Hi, Since yesterday I seem to have a stomach bug (was constrained to eat at two different functions last week), with an uneasy feeling and fatigue. The doctor has prescribed CIFRAN OZ but I was able to get only Zanocin-OZ at the pharmacy. Is this the equivalent and okay? Thanks much.

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern..

As per your complain Cifran Oz contains Ciprofloxacin 500mg that belongs to Fluroquinolone group of antibiotics along with Ornidazole 500mg that is anti-protozoan antibiotic..
While Zanocin Oz contains Ofloxacin 200mg that too is a fluroquinolone and Ornidazole 500 mg..
As both the drugs that are being given in combination with ornidazole belong to Fluroquinolone one can be effectively replaced with other..
As you have got stomach infection you can take Zanocin Oz in place of Cifran Oz..
Along with it you can take plenty of probiotics like Yoghurt and garlic in diet..
Take soft diet..
Avoid heavy,large and spicy meals..
Drink plenty of water..
