Can Clindamycin HCl Be Taken For Severe Cold And Flu?

I am a two time cancer survivor.. osteo sarcoma bone cancer and gastric carcenoma stomach cancer. I have two lung nodgels left from bone cancer. Every time I get a bad cold or flu, the left lung hurts. I was told I need an antibiotic to help with clearing up flu symptoms when sick. My son have some Clindamycin HCl 300 mg capsule, left from his sinus treatment. Can I also use this antibiotic now for myself? I am now feeling lousy from my flu symptoms.

Hi,

Yes, you can use Clindamycin. It's an effective drug for upper respiratory infection. However, one side effect worth mention is loose motion. If you develop loose motions with this drug you should immediately stop it.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Mahboob Ur Rahman,
