Can Clindamycin Be Taken While On Prednisone And Cyclobenzaprine?
I need to know if I can take the following drugs today. I had full knee replacement so I must take clindamycin 1 hour before a dental appt today. I am experiencing sciatica pain and was given prednisone 10 mg, plus cyclobenzaprine at 5 mg. I must take the clindamycin in 5 minutes
I can understand your concern. Prednisone is a steroidal drug while Cyclobenzaprine you are taking is a muscle relaxant to keep the knee muscles relaxed after the replacement procedure.
As you have dental appointment today, you need to have antibiotics coverage to prevent any infection setting in while you are in the healing process of the knee. Thus, you must take Clindamycin 1 hour before the dental appointment.
As far as interactions of these medicines is concerned, you do not need to worry about any severe side effects as they are safe to take together. I would also advise you to discuss with the dentist if you need antibiotic coverage after the dental treatment.
I hope this information helps you. Thank you for choosing HealthcareMagic. Take care.
Best, Dr. Viraj Shah
