Can Cocaine Usage Increase The Chances Of Getting Heterogenous Liver With Fatty Infiltration?

Can smoking cause or increase chances of heterogeneous liver with fatty infiltration? I was an cocaine user many years ago, for several years ago. Could that have caused it? What are the dangers, if any? I am having an MRI with and without contrast in two weeks and was told to follow up with these tests every six months. I am 63 year old female, with type ll diabetes and a poor diet, three pregnancies at ages 23,24 & 26. I have also recently gained twenty pounds and have a severe sweet tooth. Thank you.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Dr. Hanif warmly Welcomes you!

Thanks for consulting at my virtual clinic. I have carefully worked through your case, and I can realize your health worries. Being your physician, I assure you not to worry as I will take care all of your medical concerns.

yes smoking and cocaine has added to a change in the liver texture. You should refrain from both of them.

Liver change is gradual an very chronic with such a lifestyle and will stop further progressing if you stop taking cocaine, alcohol and smoking. Alcohol is more dangerous than the other two for damaging the liver.

Periodic MRI are necessary to rule out hepatocellular cancer in a timely manner (if any, starts to develop).

Hope it helps. If you need further, detailed and quick assistance related to any health issues in future, feel free to 'ask me a question' directly from my profile.

Have a wonderful time ahead.

Best Regards!
