Can Concerta Or Adderall Be Taken To Treat ADD?

I ve recently been diagnosted with Adult onset Attention Deficit Disorder and started 54 mg once daily dose of Concerta (extended release). I m curious to lear more about the differnce of Concerta and an extended release of Adderall for treating specifically ADD. How can I asses the advantages / disadvatages of an uptake inhibator like Concerta compared with increased levels of neurotransmitters typical with Adderall?

Hi,

Although Concerta and Adderall, both are brain stimulant drugs and work in a similar way. But both drugs are of different class. Of course both are used to treat the symptoms of ADD. They both are used to reduce hyperactivity and impulsive actions in people in ADD. Concerta is a longer acting drug as compared to Adderall. Effect of Concerta lasts for 12 hours or so. Therefore, a single morning dose of Concerta is sufficient for the whole working day, where as 2-3 doses of Adderall are required daily for the effectiveness.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
