Can Deriphyllin Syrup Be Given For Persistent Cough And Breathing Difficulty?

Hello Doctor My mother is suffering form cold & cough. For that I gave her Okacet Cold Tablet twice a day & recently started Cofdex syrup but we still can hear the noise of cough while she breath & even she feel bit difficult to breathe. There is no Bulgam nor any cough. Pls advise ..... Should I give her Deriphyllin syrup

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you mother have persistent coughing and difficulty in breathing which is due to lung infection / bronchitis. Deriphyllin syrup cab be given for persistent cough and breathing difficulty, it will give better effects. You can take other preventive measures as well for your mother, avoid giving her cold liquids, spicy, oily and fried food. Give diet rich in multivitamins. Chew vitamin C Pellet. You should gargle with saline water. You should take cough expectorants
as well. I would suggest you to visit pulmonologist once and get it examined. You should get X-ray chest done. Get pulmonary function test done as well to find out extent of infection. Start treatment after proper examination.
