Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Very likely what your doctor is trying to do is help your wife to regulate her menstrual cycle. She very likely will not be able to conceive during the treatment, the purpose of the treatment is to help her have regular ovulatory cycles herself. This can be tried for 3-4 months and then if her periods do not get regular she will need to see the doctor and decide on other options for her to have ovulatory cycles (cycles where she produces and egg and can conceive).
Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
