General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Effexor is sometime given in patients who don't respond well to Sertralin group of drugs. if you are not having desirous outcome with Sertralin then its better to have Effexor. Also the adverse reactions profile is more or less similar to Sertralin. However if you want you can just ask your psychiatrist the reason of putting you on it, when you visit him next time. Till then take medicine and be happy.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Arihant Pandey
