Can Effexor Be Used As A Counter Medicine For Pristiq?

Ihave come off clomipramine after 14 years and I am depressed. Dr. wants me to take Pristiq but I am too scared of side effects after 2 yrs of trying meds before clomipramine. Is Effexor just as good as Pristiq? I am also scared to start with the dosage suggested (full) when I used to go up on dosage very slow. Could I have your opinion? thanks.
