Hello,
It's not safe to take these medications together. Embeda (Morphine+Naltrexone) is an extended-release
opioid analgesic used to treat moderate to
severe pain when around-the-clock pain relief is needed for a long time period. Naltrexone is included in this medication to prevent the misuse of Morphine.
Percocet contains an opioid analgesic (Oxycodone) and a non-opioid analgesic (
Acetaminophen) used for the relief of moderate to moderately severe pain. Acetaminophen is a less potent pain reliever but increases the effects of Oxycodone.
Since both the opioid medications can cause
central nervous system depression when used alone, taking these medications together increase the risk central nervous system depression many folds and this can lead to serious side effects including
respiratory distress (slow/
shallow breathing), severe drowsiness/dizziness, coma, and even death.
Naltrexone can block the effects of Oxycodone and make the it less effective in reducing the severe pain. If you have been receiving Oxycodone for a while (for example, a week or longer), Naltrexone can also precipitate
withdrawal symptoms.
Therefore, taking Naltrexone together with Oxycodone is also not safe.
In view of the above possible harmful interactions, consult your doctor to prescribe alternatives that do not interact, or for a dose adjustment or more frequent monitoring to safely use both medications.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali
