Can Emeset And Doxinate Be Taken Together For Severe Vomiting During Pregnancy?
Hi doctor, my sister is 8 weeks pregnant n has severe vomiting.... She is taking doxinate currently.... Can emeset also be taken along with it.... Plz tell me hw many times it can be taken in a day.... Or any other tongue dissolving tablet to avoid vomiting..
I am of the opinion that hyperemesis (severe vomiting) during the first trimester of pregnancy is common. Kindly consult an obstetrician regarding emeset (ondansetron) as it is usually not given during early pregnancy.
Usually, vitamin B6 supplements (pyridoxine) are given along with tablet doxylamine (doxinate which your sister is already taking). So, probably if pyridoxine is added with doxinate it might help her better.
Also, early morning ask her to have a bread toast or ginger. It helps in morning sickness. She can take water in between meals instead of drinking large amounts of water after meals. Also, let her take small frequent meals.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Riyanka Chail, General & Family Physician
