hello! I am 28 years old and i was advised to take encorate chrono 500 once daily and topiral bi daily for migraine( long history for last 14 yrs ). after 10 days i was unable comprehend things properly and saw another doctor who asked me to withdraw topiral. i was fine afterwards, i have been taking encorate for 3 months and the only thing which is bothering me is very often i feel sleepy. is it because of the med?
I read your query carefully and I understand your concern. Somnolence (sleepiness) is one of the possible side effects of encorate, so if the excessive sleepiness began after you were started treatment and there are no other changes in your lifestyle or other medications, then encorate could well be the cause. So if the treatment has worked well for your migraine you'll have to weigh how bothersome it is. There are other alternatives for migraine prevention who don't cause sleepiness but there is no guarantee on whether they will be as effective as encorate. If on the other hand the migraine prevention effect has not been satisfactory as well, then discuss with your doctor the switch to another drug for migraine. Hope to have been of help. Feel free to ask further questions.
