Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have been taking 150 mg of Losartin for almost a month. It doesn t seem to lower my BP; my BP runs about 138-145/85-90 being as high as almost 150/97 in the mornings upon waking, dropping down to the lower levels mentioned in about 1-2 hours. I do feel anxiety & stress issues upon waking, and believe the cortisol produced as a result, may be causing these high BP readings. I have a script for 10 mg Escitalopram but am afraid this may increase my BP even more. Does Escitalopram cause a increase in BP? I cannot take Lisinopril (chronic cough) or Amlodipine (swollen ankles/feet). I am about 25 lbs overweight and have started a fast walk exercise program for about 2 weeks now. No BP change. Is Losartin amount too much? What is max dose/day? Should I take a med for anxiety? If another BP is needed what is safe? I had no side effects from Losartin so far. Thanks SO much! Ugh, oh no...I can t afford this : ( My email: YYYY@YYYY

Can Escitalopram Cause High Blood Pressure?
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic The maximum dose of losartan is usually 100mg a day so at 150mg you are using a higher than normal dose. This should be reviewed by your doctor. In terms of the escitalopram, it can affect the blood pressure in some persons but it is possible that it would not have this effect for you. You can try it to see how it works for you if you wish I hope this helps
