Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
W have been taking 6 years, 360 mg of morphine sulfate a day and 60mg of oxycodone then tapered to160 mg morphine sulfate and 30 mg of oxycodone, now new Dr is putting me on Exalgo 32mg twice a day. But when I was tapered to lower levels of original meds my pain was so bad i couldn t function drive even do house yard work anything. Is this new drug at 32mgbtwiceva day with no break though medication be as strong as what I was previously taking for severe chronic MS pain? I was doing well fully functions on old meds at original doses! I m afraid of nothing for break through pain too. Help me, please!
Yes, Exalgo is as strong as morphine sulphate and oxycodone because it also contains a strong opioid pain killer hydromorphone. Morphine has addicting potential. That is why you healthcare provider switched to Exalgo which is less addicting. Advice 1. Continue Exalgo as suggested 2. Do not change dose of Exalgo and take it exactly in dose prescribed by your doctor 3. Avoid driving, swimming and operating heavy machinery that require deep attention because Exlago can cause sedation 4. Avoid alcohol along with Exalgo I hope this information will help you. I will be happy if you ask another question Thank
