Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have type 2 diabetes. l have had a small invasive ductile cancer removed. The doctor said I have a 10%chance of getting another one and put me on Exemestane. Will this affect the pancreas s production of insulin? I am taking medicine to increase the amount of insulin I have.
Exemestane is an anti-estrogen hormonal therapy used to lessen the chances of recurrence of ER-positive breast Cancer. Yes, it increases the risk of Diabetes and morbidities associated with Diabetes.
So a proper balance between anti-estrogen therapy and diabetic medications along with a well-balanced lifestyle and dietary habits is needed.
You can further follow me up with detailed reports and case summaries for advice.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
