Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have have been on BPH nor two weeks but have experience side affects. Lack of ejaculatiom, dizziness, low blood pressure stuffy nose. Today I was moved to Flomax. Both generic. I am concerned because Flomax lists same side affects. My office manager just reminded me that she thinks I had to come off Flomax for the same reasons. I take about five BP media along with klonopin Percocet and soma. I am concerned about starting Flomax. I start Flomax tomorrow early AM. THANK YOU.
Hi & Welcome. I can understand your concern regarding the safety of Flomax while taken for the treatment of BPH.
Yes, it can be taken for the treatment of BPH.
Flomax (Tamsulosin) is the alpha-blocker that is highly selective for the prostate and the urinary bladder. This specificity may explain its lack of effect on blood pressure compared with Prazosin or Alfuzosin that are not so specific. Hence, the side effects like lack of ejaculation, dizziness, low BP and nasal stuffiness are less likely to be seen with Flomax. Another advantage compared with Prazosin or Alfuzosin is the once-daily dosing regimen of Flomax.
You may please start taking the prescribed medication.
Hope this answers your query.
