Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I was prescribed Metanx for neuropathy in my feet but found it to cost $156 per month so did not pickup the prescription. I was told my insurance doesn t pay for it but they do pay for Folbic. Can you tell me if Folbic is being used with good results for neuropathy? How does it compare to Metanx.?
Folbic is also effective but it will take more time to show effects as it contains only B6, B12 & folic acid.
The other substitutes are Folast & Neurpath-B. These are also dietary supplements.
You are suggested to take Metanx for it will help you get better faster. When your symptoms get better, you can take the other substitutes as a maintenance dose.
Get properly treated for peripheral neuropathy for neglect may lead to complications.
Take medications always under the doctor under consultation. Keep him informed.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Nupur K, General & Family Physician
