General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

It does not facilitate pregnancy. Because of the increased demand during pregnancy folic acid is given along with iron to prevent anemia of the pregnancy. Folic acid is very important for the development of a healthy fetus. It can reduce the chance of neural tube defects such as spina bifida in the new born babies.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali, General & Family Physician
