Can GON Injections Or Steroid Cause Weight Gain?

Hello I am receiving a monthly GON injection to prevent my migraines My weight is piling on Whilst I m thrilled with the positive effect of the past 5 months of injections, (normally only one every 3 months, but my migraines so severe, they have been monthly) the weight gain is now a big issue. The injections will decline in frequency.... Will the weight go? Can GON injections, steroid, cause this? Thanks alison xx

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Thank you for sharing your query on Healthcaremagic, I have carefully worked through your case and your weight gain is an steroid side effects, normally the GON injection not produce a systemic side effects because is a local procedure recommended every 2 month, but due your severe migraine you're taking a monthly treatment and that's mean giving more injections increase the likelihood of side effects from the steroids that are injected. Likewise if you need more frequent injections, other treatments should probably considered.
Please kindly rate if my advise has been helpful, Take care
Wishing you a good health
