Can Ginkgo Biloba Be Consumed While Treating A Pituitary Abnormality?
Good evening Dr...just wanted to ask if it would be ok to start taking Ginkgo Biloba due to being diagnosed with a Pituitary Abnormality? I once suffered from increased Prolactin Secretion. Thanks for query .I have gone through your query.Pituitary gland also known as master gland control various physiological process like pubertal development .As far as ginkgo biloba is concern it is not known to cause any direct benefit to pituitary gland ,but it is known to increase blood supply to brain .May be this effect of ginkgo biloba affects pituitary gland .
But there are other supplements you can take which are essential for pituitary gland's healthy functioning .these are vitamin E,A and d .
I would suggest you to consult endocrinologist for proper treatment of this abnormality .There are plenty of options available like radio therapy ,surgery and medications to control excess hormones .
Hope your concern has been resolved. get well soon. Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
