Can Glycomet Be Taken To Regularise Periods And Avoid Weight Gain?

Hello Sir, I have a irregular period problem.For six months I have taken medicine,till then period was normal but when I left that again problem exist and so I am gaining my weight alot.Is it good to take Glycomet for this cause.So that I can get rid of period problem n even weight gain problem.Please do suggest.

I am sorry to know about irregularity of your periods and the weight gain you are suffering through. Gylcomet (Metformin) is basically used in diabetics to control their sugar by increasing their insulin sensitivity, there are other uses of it as well.

It is also used in ladies specially with PSOC to control symptoms of irregular periods and weight gain. It is also used for weight loss in morbidly obese patients.
Regarding your question, if you can use this medicine for weight loss and period regulation, In my opinion I would recommend such patients in my clinic to start using the medicine again as this has very few side effects and helps patients get out of their problems easily.

But I would recommend you to visit your doctor instead of using it by yourself , your doctor better decide if for you because your doctor would be having your history and lab records plus would be knowing your response to a specific dose of the medication.
