Can Glycomet Be Taken While Breast Feeding?

Hello sir, I have Diabetics type 2 since two years. During pregnancy I was curing with insulin. After delivery of baby I was gone thruogh checking to doctor. He suggested to take Glycomet 500. During feeding baby is it safe to take this glycomet 500 ? Please advise. .

Hello, my name is Dr.Dorina Gurabardhi. I understand your concern.
Data from studies indicate that metformin levels in milk are low and infants would receive less than 0.5% of their mother's weight-adjusted dosage. Although the dose in milk is low, metformin is sometimes detectable in low levels in the serum of breastfed infants.
So I think that you should discuss it with your gynecologist.
