Can HIV Be Contracted Through A Scratch Wound From A Pin?
Hi.please I need to know the possibility of hiv transmission. Went to adjust my dress yesterday in a tailor s place and unfortunately i got scratched by one of d safety pins she used on my dresss. Not deep thou, the scratch is more like superficial.didn t bleed. The scratch was just red
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain first thing is that if you are scratched by a safety pin then chances of HIV transmission can be even thought of if the pin head was contaminated with the blood of an infected person..
Secondly if it is even contaminated and the blood has dried off or the area gets exposed to air then the HIV virus particles becomes inactive or dead and will not cause any infection...
Chances of infection are higher when you are exposed to highly infectious fluids like semen, vaginal fluid, blood etc..
In your case you need not to worry as there does not seem any chance of HIV transmission..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
