Can HIV Be Contracted Through An Open Wound?

fallen down in a swimming pool bathroom and bite my lip, immediately touch the open wound with my hand and is 99% sure my hand contain semen on the ground It have been 1 month now and there s swollen lymph nodes around my right leg and left hand, down with flu and dry cough. Am I down with hiv?

Hello,

Certainly you are correct in that, direct contact of an open wound to semen would be capable of transmitting the HIV virus. However, in truth I find this to be a low probability. I say this because the open wound from biting your lip in your mouth would not be a likely means to contract the virus. Very little exchange could take place through this interaction. I do understand your concern and I will not say that there is no possibility of contraction of any blood borne diseases, but I would state that it is unlikely.
