Hi,

Based on the history you seem to have an unprotected sex following which there may be an increased risk of HIV infection.

A nucleic acid test can usually tell you if you have HIV infection 10 to 33 days after an exposure.

An antigen/antibody test done on blood from a vein can usually detect HIV infection 18 to 45 days after an exposure.

Remember there is a 'window period' during which a person can have HIV and be very infectious but still test HIV negative.

It is the time between HIV infection and the point when the test will give an accurate result and it depends upon the test involved.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali
