Can Herpes Simplex Lesions Spread To Other Areas Of The Body?
Once in awhile my husband gets oral canker sore. Two weeks ago he felt was getting one but it didn t materialize. Since he has glaucoma five days ago I took him to the eye doctor because his right was very painful thinking his pressure was up. To our surprise he was told he had herpes simplex lesions all over his cornea. The meds are very expensive and it appears to be resolving but slowly. Can he spread this to other areas of his body?
I can understand your concern. Herpes simplex lesions follow the nerve path and causes eruptions on its way. The oral ulcers your husband was experiencing might also be herpes simplex lesions.
In addition, this infection is contagious and spreads most commonly via oral and genitourinary secretions and the infection is not self limiting. It has to be treated by antiviral medications.
Thus, I would advise you to visit your physician for physical examination, investigations and treatment of the herpes simplex infection.
I hope this information helps you. Thank you for choosing HCM. Let me know if you have follow up questions.
Best, Dr. Viraj Shah
