I m taking 4mg hydromophone to help me pass a kidney stone. I ve been taking 4MG every 3 hours for pain. Is that ok? The bottle says take 1 tablet every 6 hours but my pain starts coming back in about 2:45 minutes. Full blown #10 scale pain at 3 hours. I suffer for about an half hour after I take the pill

Hello,

Hydromorphone should not be used regularly for pain. Your pain is because of renal (kidney) stones. Take plenty of fluids, water so that part of stone may get dissolved. In the query, you didn't mention the size of the stone. If the size is less than 5 mm: take plenty of water. If the size is more than 5mm, we have to reduce the size by surgical means. My suggestion, please consult nephrologist or general physician for treatment.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Siddartha
