Can I Ask A Doctor To Assist Me In Understanding My CT SCAN -PNS Report ?
Hi Doctor, I had a CT SCAN -PNS yesterday. Below is the report.. Can you please assist me in under standing the report and what need to be done for the below issue. ======================================================================================== Mild to moderate polypoidal mucosal thickening is seen in bilateral maxillary sinuses with no evidense of air fluid level. Two polyps/retention cysts are seen in right maxillary sinus, the larger measures 1.2*1.4cm. Blockage of the left osteo-meatal complex is seen due to mucosal thickening. There is a patent left accessory maxillary osttium. DNS to right with a samll bony spur over the convexity. =============================================================== Thanks, AAAA
Hi and thanks for the query, The lining of your sinuses inside your cheekbone are thickened slightly... nothing to worry about, it is quite common. There is no air fluid level... means there is no pus or infected fluid inside the sinuses. There are cysts inside....... they are not very large so not to worry. There is blockage of the opening of the left amxillary sinus which normally opens into the nose.... Blockage of the opening is slightly problematic and all your findings in scan may be attributed to this. Your septum that divides the nose into 2 halves is deviated to the right... again it has no significance if the deviation is mild. Since i have not examined you and do not know your history, it is not possible for me to the right course of action. Such nasal findings are rather common and surgery or medicines are given only if clinical correlation exists. Regards, Dr Kishori.
