Can I Continue My Pregnancy After Taking Familon Contraceptive Pill?
age-25,ht-5ft2",wt-50kg.Married 2month back.I have started taking femilon for contraception but unfortunately become pregnant .my LMP was 8.3.11,I have taken femilon for 15 days .now i am having 7wks viable pregnancy & want to continue it,should I terminate it due to teratogenic effect of femilon?
Contraceptive pills contain hormones similar to the kind your own body makes during both the normal menstrual cycle and pregnancy. Therefore, they cannot cause abortion and definitely do not cause birth defects. 1 in 200 women will get pregnant accidentally while taking oral contraceptives and there have been many studies that show that these women have no increased risk of birth defects compared to the general population.
So there is no reason you have to terminate your pregnancy because of risk of birth defects and you can have a completely normal baby if you decide to do so.
