Can I Continue Taking Levothyroxine For Underactive Thyroid?

i was taking levothyroxine, 50 mcg daily for underactive thyroid as prescribed by my allegy specialist.

that was unknown to a different doctor, my allergy specialist, who prescribed 5 mg daily of levocetirizne.

i happened to notice the similarity in the names and wondered if there was any built in conflict here, or,

if there was some change of overdosing on an element that might be contained in both.

thanks

Hi,
Levothyroxine and Levocetrizine are 2 entirely different drugs - Levothyroxine is a hormone replacement for hypothyroidism (under active thyroid) while Levocetrizine is an anti allergic medication.

You can take both the medications without any concern of over dosage

Hope I have answered your question. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help
