Can I Contract HIV Infection From A Brief Sexual Exposure?

Dear Doctor,

I am a 35 yr old married man from Singapore. On 15th September 2010, i had a brief sexual encounter with a very young sex worker. I was gently stroking her with the condom on for about 10 mins, during which i pulled out couple of times just to check if the condon was ok. Suddenly after about 10 mins when i pulled out before ejaculating, i found the condom had completely torn from my shaft region and my glans was exposed. I immediately took off the condom and wiped my penis dry with a clean towel. Although my penis must have been exposed for just a few 2 to 3 minutes, I am afraid if i may have contracted any infection including HIV. After this (in about another 5 mins), i masturbated and washed with soap and water thrice. My question to you is whether i can get infected if the girl is HIV+ even if the actual exposure may have been for only 2-3 mins. ? And if i wiped the exposed region(Glans & Shaft) immediately after noticing the condom breakage (within 2-3 min), still do i stand a risk??

Becoz of this encounter, i am scared to have sex with my wife as i dont want to infect her just in case i am. Therefore i have used condoms while having sex with her during the last week.

Kindly advice doctor

Thanks and Regards,

Yash Savant

Hello
Assuming that girl was an HIV infected and your uncovered ( without condom ) penis remain in contact with vagina and in it roughly for 2-3 minutes .
After this you masturbate .
The virus ( HIV infected ) has been demonstrated in the cervical secretion as well as vaginal secretion from female . When you were doing sexual intercourse naturally your penis contracted with that secretions and chance of getting HIV infection is more .
The question is IF SECRETIONS ( cervical as well vaginal ) were HIV infected then there is chance of getting infection by you is more but not dead sure .
In such type of circumstances don't make any sexual relation with your wife without protection.
Get in rapid P 24 nucleic acid amplification test as early as possible ( WESTERN BLOT ) .
Time of exposure usually matters that's why female are 8 times more prone to infection than male and this a documented proof.
So same is here for you if in contact only for 2-3 minute ,less chance of getting infection.
Hope this will help you.
