Can I Have Cymbalta For Nerve Ending Damage From Shingles?

Is Cymbalta used for nerve ending damage from shingles which I got on my right side of my face and ear. I have been taking lyrica for three years going on four years now and down to one pill per day in the evening. The new cost is $300. per prescription per month. It is not approved by Medicare and so there is no reduction on costs. Is there a comparable medication that would help with the nerve pain I experience on the right side of my face and right ear that is approved by Medicare and comes in a generic. I am an 89 year old female. Grace Moskowitz

Hi,

Cymbalta is more of anti-depressant property. You can use Gabapentin preparation for same effect like Lyrica.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
