Can I Quit Lasix After Plugged Ears And Dry Mouth And Hair?

My Dr. started me on lasix a week and a half ago---Ihad swollen ankles.The first couple of days I felt great.I have not felt well since.Very moody, my ears get plugged, dry mouth and hair,very sleepy about four hours after taking,hoarseness has developed.Can I quit taking until I call my Dr.?I take along with 50mg. of spironolactone/day and Estradial 4mg/day.

The symptoms you have mentioned may probably not due to lasix but due to the combined effect of lasix and spironolactone. Spironolactone is relatively ineffective when used alone but is more efficient when combined with lasix. However since you are having swollen ankle probably you might be suffering from heart disease for which the above said two drugs will be effective. Hence i feel that you need not stop lasix but reduce the dose of lasix by half until you visit your doctor; he may be in a better position to re examine you and to start appropriate medicine.
