Hello and welcome to health care magic.
I am Dr Nilajkumar a consultant obstetrician and I will be helping you in your queries.
You want to take ferium and CCM and stop
folic acid if possible.
Ferium tablets contain only iron and no folic acid. Ferium XT contains folic acid but the dose is less than recommended. It has only 1.5 mg folic acid while recommended is around 4-5 mg. CCM is calcium with vitamin D so no folic acid in this one.
If you have completed 12 weeks of
pregnancy there is no need to take additional folic acid tablets and ferium XT will be fine. If you are still less than 12 weeks [ I do not recommend iron unless there is deficiency in the first trimester], so:
1. folic acid if
hemoglobin is OK and
2. plain ferium and plain folic acid tablets if there is
anemia are recommended.
Also every women that does not take folic acid will not develop
spina bifida. Only those with deficiency will develop this. It is also present in our diet especially in fresh fruits and green vegetables, so add these to your diet and you will be fine.
Hope I was able to help you in your query.
Thanks for using HCM.
Have a good day.
