Can I Stop Medicines While Thyroid Levels Are Normal?
Hello Sir,
My wife delivered a boy baby at 7 Months through C-Section on 14.04.2011 following uncontrolled high blood pressure (BP at the time of Delivery was 190/100). But the baby was not survived due to RDS. After the delivery also the BP was not under control. She met Gynac and also General Medicine. It was confirmed that her TSH level is 7.5. Doctors advised her Thyronorm, Thyrowell and Ecosporin 75 mg Tablets. I would like to know whether the Thyroid disorder will come to normal?. Whether she can stop all these medicines once the thyroid leveles comes to normal?. If not what are the side effects of all these medicines.
Hi dear user I have gone through your question. I can understand your concern.
Your wife's level of TSH =7.5 means hypothyroidism. It is necessary to see an endocrinologist, to perform a thyroid ultrasound and to ask the free thyroid hormons(free T3 and free T4 ).After all these investigations the doctor will be able to decide for the cause of hypothyroidism. It is necessary to know the cause of actual thyroid condition and then the doctor can answer if the disorder will come to normal.
If the diagnose is Postpartum thyroiditis the disorder very probably will come to normal and in that moment your wife will not need thyronorm any more ,but if the diagnose is Hashimoto's thyroiditis the hypothyroidism is pemanent.
Hyperactivity, nervousness, anxiety, irritability, emotional lability, weight loss, heat intolerance, tremors, insomnia are the most common side effects of Thyronorm. Thyrowel is a Multivitamin with Minerals and l-tyrosine. Common ecosporin(aspirin) side effects may include:upset stomach, heartburn;drowsiness.
Hope i have answered to all your questions. If you have other questions,i will be happy to help. Thank you fot using HCM. Wish you good health.
