Can I Stop Onglyza Due To Respiratory Infections When Having Diabetes Type2?
I am diabetic type 2, on Metformin and Onglyza and Lantus. One of the side effects of Onglyza is increased frequency of respiratory infections. In my case I am also IgAD and I am on of the twenty % who does suffer from essentially chronic respiratory infections. I d like to get off the onglyza for starters and just want to know whether or not I can just cut this med out. I will likely increase my dosage of Lantus for the time being if the Onglyza can be terminated.
Hi, I had gone through your query and understood your concerns. i am very sorry for your condition. As you rightly said there is increased incidence of respiratory in patients using this drug. in my opinion there are many other drugs which will help you to control diabetes like GLP-1 analogs and Sulfonylurea group of drugs. it may be difficult to control your diabetes by increasing lantus alone. i suggest to consult your doc and discuss the condition. Hope I was able to help you. If you have any further question fell free to write me back.I will be happy to help. Take care. Best Regards. Dr Vamsi Krishna Consultant Diabetologist Apollo Hospitals
