Can I Take Ibuprofen For Swelling And Tenderness Of Kneecap By Possible Patella Fracture?

I fell straight onto my knees Sunday playing volleyball. I have quiet a bit of pain, swelling and a dent in my kneecap also point tenderness on kneecap. I'm concerned about a patella fracture but I can put weight on it and I can do the leg lift test. I'm just not sure if I should see my dr or if it will go away on its own. Been using I and ibuprofen.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi. With the history and the findings you have provided , I would suggest you to see an Orthopedic Surgeon. There can be a fracture. Stop moving the knee joint to avoid further damage. X-ray / CT would definitely confirm the diagnosis to guide for the proper treatment. You may also need an MRI if your Doctor suspects an internal injury. Continue taking Ibuprofen, thrice daily.
