HI my trigycerides are 475 and total cholestrol 279.. Though I have high trigycerides for years now , cholestrol is a recent development. ( 1 yr back). I havent taken any medicine as yet. I get my stress test done every year and it has always been normal. I Run about 6-7 km each day for 3 days a week and do weight training 2-3 days a week. I have now been advised Rozavel F for life.. Is it right to take medicine for life. I am 35 yrs old.

Rozavel F is a drug combination of Rosuvastatin 10mg and Fenofibrate160mg and it is used to reduce the cholesterol and triglyceride levels. If you think about the harmful effects of cholesterol and triglycerides(like MI, heart attack), it is definitely best to take the medicine. Yes, this is the right medication to take. As with all allopathic medicines, side effects like headache , dizziness etc might be there. Make sure you get your LFT liver function tests checked before starting treatment and thereafter every 3 months after starting treatment.

I can see that you are fitness conscious and that is good for your body and heart. Supplement it with other measures like eating lot of green leafy vegetables, fresh fruits, Use Olive oil for cooking and with salads. Walnuts are good to bring down cholesterol. Avoid red meat, fatty , deep fried foods.
Right now , take the medication and do the lifestyle modifications as I have said. Later ,after a couple of months, under your doctor's advice you can maybe switchover or reduce the dosage of the drug.

Hope I have answered your question. Have a nice day :)

hello nishant..you can take this medication to reduce cholesterol but along with you need to change your lifestyle as well.. like going for brisk walks daily for 45 mins, eating high fiber foods like fruits, nuts, salads, sprouts, oats, jowar, ragi etc.. avoiding alcohol, sweets, fried and junk foods..reducing intake of egg yolk and red meat..take fish oil capsule daily as omega 3 in it reduces cholesterol..drink lot of water.. avoid saturated fats like whole milk, cream, butter, ghee etc.. take care
