Can I Take Fish Oil For Allergy?

I h ave also of allergies - went thru testing= main allergy was to dust. But there were slight reactions to most foods. Actually years ago I even got allergy shots. Anyway, I have a new primary doctor- he wants me to use a netipot (I've been using saline spray (similar in effect) but he also wants me to take fish oil, I think 1-2 grams daily. Once years ago I had an allergic reactions to salmon al well as shrimp (vominting) but they are very large portions. Am some what hesitate to try the fish oil- I do take flaxseed tablets, but he really wants me to take fish oil. What do you suggest? Also he wants me to take B12. ( I am 61 years old, a retired nurse, interested in nutrition, but do have BP problems. Any suggestions?

Hello!
Welcome to health care magic.
Thanks for your query.

Since you have a long history of allergy and you feel that taking fish oil will precipitate allergy, you should avoid it and take other supplements such as walnut, Sardines and soyabeans.

These supplements are rich sources of omega -3 fatty acids.

Because the psychological feeling of allergy about the fish oil could probably cause problems.

For your blood pressure reduce your salt intake, do walking or cycling daily and if possible you can practice meditation.

Check your blood pressure after practicing these life style modifications after 2 weeks. If your blood pressure is high consult a physician for hypertensive medication prescription.

Consult a general physician and take further suggestions.
Wish you a good health.
Thank you.
