Can I Try To Conceive While Taking Cephalexin For Urinary Tract Infection?
Hi, I am trying to get pregnant but unfortunately i have got Urinary Tract Infection. I have started Cephalexin 500 mg from today and doctor has advised to take it twice a day (course of 5 days). Can I still have sex when I am using this drug or will it reduce the chances to conceive? I still have 15 days for my menstrual cycle to come. I was wondering if we can still try? Also, I think it is a recurring UTI because it happened twice in less than 6 months. I am worried that if it is stopping me to get pregnant. Help Please!!

Hi, Cephalexine has no data showing reduction in the chances to conceive. The UTI may be due to many reasons like not maintaining hygiene, stones, diabetes etc. UTI twice in last 6 months should not cause any problem in conceiving if your menstrual periods are normal. It will be better if you give more information on menstrual cycles, any irregularities, your age and any co-morbid conditions to discuss in detail.
