IBS is defined as frequent changes in stool consistancy and/or frequency associated with abdominal discomfort relieved by defecation. Symptoms should be present for at least 2-3 months a year for at least 2 years. The important part of it is absence of any warning signs like bleeding, weight loss etc.
IBS per se should not result in anorexia and weight loss. Associated depression may do so. If you are loosing weight, consult gastroenterologist urgently.
HI WELCOME TO HCM.IBD symptoms are vomiting,diarrohea or constipation,it wont cause anorexia this is a sign of some other problem so you kindly consult your surgeon ok
