Can IUD Cause Painful Rashes On Face?

I have an IUD for about a year now, I will like to know if it causes any type of skin problem, I am not sure if its a rash on my face but it looks light in the middle of my face going from my nose towards my cheek and can it make you feel very achy like if you have worked out in the gym.

Hi.
I've gone through your query and I can understand your anxiety.

There are few reported cases of allergic reactions to IUD ( mirena). Allergic reactions could be a rash, hives, swelling, seborrhoeic dermatitis etc.

Also IUD can flare up acne due to the hormonal combinations they carry.

So I advice you to report to your gynaecologist immediately if you experience such symptoms repeatedly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Take care.

Regards,
Dr. Yogapriya V, General and family physician.
