Can Ibugesic Syrup Be Given To A Child Two Hours After Meftal-P Intake?

My son is 4.8 years old and is suffering from fever. I have him Calpol (7.5ml) but no significant improvement so 4 hours later have given him Meftal-P suspension (5ml). I still don t see much improvement after an hour. Can I give him dosage of IBUGESIC Syrup (He has responded well to this medicine in the past). Can you suggest the dosage and whether I need to wait for sometime or can give it straight away (as this is a different salt than Meftal-P, and 6 hours have elapsed since last dose of Calpol which is a Paracetamol salt).

Hi,

Syrup Meftal P is not going to work for fever as it contains dicyclomine and mefenamic acid. If Paracetamol is not working to bring down the fever, you can give Ibugesic syrup in the same dose.

Since six hours have elapsed since last dose it is OK to give the next dose. If the fever still does not subside, consult a pediatrician. I hope that answers your question.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
