Can Ibuprofen Be Taken Along With Prednisolone?

Just started taking prednisolone 5day course 25 mg ( one a day )
Due to pain wondered whether I could still take ibuprofen
I still have omeprazole which understand helps the stomach lining. Have been on a course of 600mg ibuprofen for some twenty days for gout . Obviously taking omeprazole once a day in the morning.
Last night due to excessive pain I wondered whether to take a 200mg ibuprofen . BUT DIDNT
Is there anything to alleviate pain or just grin and bear it .?

Hi!
Welcome to HCM!

Yes for the control of severe pain Ibuprofen may be taken along with Prednisolone.

For severe pain and associated swelling of the joints drugs like Ibuprofen or Indomethacine are quite effective. As a matter of fact since they are known to cause acidity related stomach problems they are always to be taken along with Omeprazole to prevent the gastritis. etc.
The other option for the symptomatic relief of pain & swelling in patients with gouty arthritis can be Cochicine which is still used in most of the developing countries. Unfortunately, it is associated with troublesome diarrahea which subsides upon discontinuance of its use.
Take as much oral fluid as you can so as to maintain a good urine output. Once the pain and swelling subside you must start taking Allopurinol to reduce the elevated uric acid level beside dietary restrictions of foods like beans, daals, red meat, organ meals, shrimps, etc...etc.
Regards!
