Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I was recently diagnosed with gastritis. I took all my medication for it and it went away but just yesterday, it came back. Today, I woke up with a fever (I ve been sick the past three days with a cough and stuffed up nose), would it be safe to take a 200 mg ibuprofen to reduce my fever, even though I ve been having gastritis problems?
Since non steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs like Ibuprofen can cause acidity related issues like gastritis, stomach ulcer or bleeding, there will be a high risk of bleeding if you take Ibuprofen.
I would rather advise you to take Paracetamol for the symptomatic relief of fever while suffering from gastritis. Paracetamol is a safe medication and it is not known to cause any harmful effects in the stomach.
Hope this will help.
