Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My cardiologist put me on eliquis and told me I cant take Ibuprofen. I have diabetic neuropathy and am in agony.... can I take ibuprofen just one time until I can speak to him in the morning... I am in severe pain and cannot rest I thought this was a service ... I didnt realize I had to pay for it.... I am sorry I bothered you
There is a risk of bleeding with the combination of ibuprofen (and all meds in this family) and eliquis (and other anti coagulants). Though you may not have bleeding with one tablet of ibuprofen, it is not possible to predict whether bleeding may or may not occur.
It would be best to use a pain killer from another family of medications such as paracetamol or codeine or tramadol.
If the pain is very severe, then you should consider going to an emergency service where they can give you alternative medications to help deal with your pain.
I hope this helps
