Can Implanon Cause Dizziness?

I have the implanon for about a year now and
i have been feeling really dizzy, feel like Im spinning whenever Im walking but feel fine when Im laying down and weak most of the time. I have even fainted 3 times. I read about that the implanon can do this? Should I get it taken out asap? I think it might be vertigo. I read all the symptoms and they match all mine.

Hi,

Though Implanon can lead to some amount of dizziness as side effect, usually this will subside during the first few months of the usage. As you are using the Implanon since 1 year and as you are having the dizzinessiness which is altered by the position and also fainting attacks, these may not be directly related to the Implanon. Other causes also should be considered like vertigo as you mentioned and also any neurological abnormalities. Hence, it is better to consult your physician once and get examined.

By clinical examination the exact cause of your problem can be identified and depending on that if needed you can go for investigations like hemoglobin levels, blood sugar levels, serum electrolytes, specific investigations like audiometry, EEG, MRI brain, etc. with this work up the possible cause of a problem can be identified and treatment can be taken accordingly.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
