Can Invasive Ductal Carcinoma With Multiple Lung Metastasis Be Cured?
hello Dr J Krueger I am a Physician myself-My sister 52 YRS FEMALE has been diagnosed as invasive ductal carcinoma-she is a diabetic on oral hypoglycaemic agents-rt breast 12 days back with herceptin recepter +ve and negative for ER AND PR Receptors.Bone scan clear-Abdominal Scan clear-but there are multiple enlarged necrotic nodes seen in the right axilla, largest measuring 22 x 12 mm. Both lung fields show multiple nodular opacities with irregular margins, largest measuring 1.0 x 1.0 cm in the lateral basal segment of the left lower lobe. A pleural base nodule is seen in the anterior segment of the left upper lobe. Few subcentimeter nodes are seen in the prevascular (6.8 mm in short axis), pretracheal (4 mm in short axis) and right hilar (9 mm in short axis) regions. IMPRESSION The study reveals a large multi-centric malignant mass in the right breast with right axillary nodes and multiple lung metastasis. The node in the right hila appears suspicious as its show heterogeneous enhancement. The abdominal organs are unremarkable One chemo has already been done with Herceptin and other chemotherapeutic agents- pl let me know if there is any hope of complete cure-anywhere-In uk doctors have developed a vaccine whichworks by encouraging to seek out and destroy the enzyme telomerase the immune system and b-pl comment on that also if this is beneficial?
Hello Dr. i have gone through the details. i appreciate your concern. It is sad but Your sister has metastatic disease and cur is not possible in such a stage. However survival can be prolonged by care full selection of drugs sometimes even upto 5 years or so. The vaccine which you are telling about is an experimental trial form of drug. You can enrole your sister in that trial. It may or may not work. So you please dont loose hope. I think i have explained the things. thanks, regards
