Can Kenalog Injection Cause Any Side Effects?

I have been experiencing tension headache for past 3 weeks. Last week I went to doctor and received an injection of kenelog ( steroid) . By Friday I had a sore throat, low grade fever. Is this normal? Last year I got the same injection and it helped me and I didn t have this type of reaction. I still have the muscle aches and headache. The injection did not help me at all.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

If the Kenalog injection has not helped, this is because you have not fought the right cause, unfortunately. So, to me you should find the real diagnosis. If you experienced sore throat, I think that is due to possible acute viral infection, possibly associated with sinusitis. I think you need to run a good ENT examination by ENT specialist to determine the right diagnosis.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Albana Sejdini, General & Family Physician
