Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Can Keytruda Help Battle Recurrent Melanoma And Tumors On Neck?
My nephew is battling melanoma and has had several surgeries on his neck where tumors keep growing. Initially he went to a surgeon who kept doing surgery without cancer tx. Now he is with a cancer doctor. His first round of chemo was not successful and tumors are growing back. What is your experience with Keytruda? Also any nutritional suggestions?
As per my surgical experience, the Keytruda contains Pembrolizumab which is a monoclonal antibody used for treatment of advanced melanoma or Merckle cell tumors with varying degree of results. The Pembrolizumab acts by controlling the growth of cancer cells in various patterns of immune response.
The Keytruda is used as solo agent or in combination with other chemotherapy agents as per the decision of treating oncologist. I would request you to discuss the scope of this molecule in your case with treating oncologist.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
